We need national legislation on grooming

In November 2015, Save the Children has contributed to a governmental consultation leading up to a revision of the National Criminal Law.
Sexual offenders use social media and digital platforms to get into contact with children. This is why Save the Children Denmark advocates for a change in the Danish Criminal Law to incorporate the criminalization of grooming.
Save the Children recommends that a new legal corpus be made to gather all paragraphs about sexual abuse of children in one single chapter and that this chapter include a description of the different ways in which sexual perpetrators may start and abuse contact with children. We believe that Denmark needs a specific mentioning of grooming in the criminal law in order to prioritize the protection of children in this particular type of sexual abuse.
